Indigenous Engagement

At Calibre, we believe that indigenous people should benefit from, and contribute to our nation’s prosperity.

A common thread to all our indigenous engagement activities is sustainability. Our partnership with the Community Development Foundation (CDF) is part of a three-way effort with the state government, Indigenous communities and private industry to help create sustainable changes in disadvantaged Indigenous communities around Australia.

We also seek to broaden the technical skills of a new generation of Indigenous Australians. Young indigenous trainee draft-people are gaining drafting experience, training and mentoring at Calibre whilst completing studies. The program provides support and encouragement for students to realise their full potential within Calibre.

We have as a company made greater inroads into regional indigenous employment, particularly in remote regions of North Western Australia with the employment of Pilbara Aboriginal People as well as mentoring support for developing Aboriginal businesses.
