The Graduate Recruitment Process
 
Applications are encouraged from graduates of the following disciplines:

The closing date for Calibre Graduate Development Program 2011/2012 applications will be Friday, 10th June 2011

  The selection of graduates is to be on the basis of consistent criteria that relates to competence and potential. Subsequently,  

  graduate recruitment decisions will be based upon assessment criteria that identify candidates whose technical abilities,

  professional skills, academic records, personal and behavioral characteristics, best match our requirements.

Telephone Interviews: The Calibre HR department will contact you to ask for any additional information we need that was not covered in your application. This interview lasts about 20 minutes and a suitable time will be scheduled with you prior to the interview.

  Early July

Panel Interviews: If you are successful in moving to the next stage of the recruitment process, you will meet with line managers and a HR representative to participate in a behaviourally based interview. This will give you an opportunity to discuss your achievements to date and career aspirations.

  Mid July

Medical Examinations: Health and safety is a priority for us and we have a duty of care to ensure that you are fit to work for Calibre. The medical exam is an important part of the process and is the final step before we can make an offer to a successful candidate.

Offers made: Successful candidates are made offers of employment with Calibre for the 2011 Calibre Graduate Development program.

Our Training and Development

 

Training is an essential, long-term investment to ensure that graduates can make the most effective contribution to our business and can develop to their fullest personal potential.

The CGDP focuses on development in professional and technical areas as well as specific company and operational knowledge. The development will be accomplished through a mixture of both internal and external training. Graduates will undertake training sessions in the following areas (not limited to) during the CGDP;

  • Time Management

  Technical Development

  • Contract Management

  • Occupational Safety, Health, Environment and Quality
  • Other (Discipline Specific)

Social events will be coordinated for Calibre graduates and mentors by the Learning & Development Advisor. All activities will be carefully structured to direct specific focus to the personal growth of graduates and the strengthening of their relationship with their mentor.

 
Our Mentoring Program

 

Within one month of commencement, graduates will be assigned a mentor. The mentor is generally a trusted Senior Engineer of related discipline. As graduates move through different projects, they may have different managers however their mentor will be the consistent figure throughout the CGDP.

The Mentor will:

  • Act as a role model to the graduate;
  • Take a continuous interest in the progress of the graduate through defined meetings;
  • Assist with the monitoring of the graduate’s professional development; and
  • Intervene as necessary on behalf of the graduate to ensure that the appropriate experience is being provided.
